WhatsNextOur commitment to privacy
WhatsNext is built on trust between friends. We have no interest in your data beyond what it takes to run the app. We don't sell it, we don't analyze it for advertising, and we don't share it with anyone who doesn't need it to make the service work.
We have no analytics, no tracking pixels, no ad network integrations, and no Facebook or Google scripts on this site. We removed our error monitoring tool because its stack traces could incidentally capture user notes. Not worth the tradeoff.

What we collect
When you create an account, we store:
- Your email address and password (managed by Supabase Auth)
- Your username and optional display name
- Your avatar (a generated illustration, no photo uploads)
- Your list entries: titles, status, ratings, notes, and dates
- Recommendations you send and receive, including notes
- Your friendships on the platform
We don't collect your location, device identifiers, or browsing behavior.
Who sees your data
Your list and notes are visible to friends you've accepted on WhatsNext, subject to the privacy controls in your settings. You can make your library, ratings, and notes private at any time.
Like any service, the person running WhatsNext can technically access the database that stores your data. We don't browse it. We only look at specific records to debug a problem you've reported or when you ask for help.
We don't sell, trade, or rent your personal information to anyone.
Third-party services
We use a small number of infrastructure services to run the app:
- Supabase handles our database and authentication. Your data lives on their hosted infrastructure in the US.
- Vercel hosts the app and logs request metadata including IP addresses, with short retention.
- Resend delivers our email (recommendations, friend requests, digests). The content of those emails, including recommendation notes, passes through Resend and is retained in their delivery logs for a limited period.
That's the full list. No analytics, no ad networks, no third-party tracking.
Data deletion
You can delete your account from Settings at any time. This removes your profile, list entries, and recommendations from our database. If you want confirmation or need help, email hello@mywhatsnext.app and we'll handle it within 30 days.
